Madelyn Grace was born Sunday, June 7, 2009 and weighed 8lbs., 13oz. and was 22 inches long. She is doing very well and we are all adjusting to our new life together.

I probably won't be updating this blog very much at all. I use Facebook a lot now and also Twitter. Follow me @donnyspi.

Yay for technology! I borrowed a fetal heart monitor from a friend at work and hooked it up to my computer and to my wife. Here's a low-quality sound clip of our baby's heartbeat at about 18 weeks.

Hopefully we'll have an ultrasound soon to count limbs and figure out what the gender is.

The other day I made some hot apple cider and brought it to work. I kept it hot in one of those big Thermos dispenser things. It totally looks like I stole it from a Turkey Hill or something. Anyway, all I did to make the hot cider was to add some cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole allspice, and real maple syrup to a pot of cider. Bring to a boil, mix it around, and pour it into the Thermos thingy. Serve in a mug and garnish with a whole cinnamon stick, if you're man enough. It turned out so good.
